Global Confidence Building
Saturday, July 11th, 2009We are certainly living in a time when confidence building is critical and when building confidence is most difficult. I found this book on building global confidence while panning through Amazon for literary gold nuggets.
Global Confidence Building: New Tools for Troubled Regions
I haven’t read it and I likely won’t. I’m linking to it to discuss a topic. Where is the global confidence that was supposedly being built? I don’t see the confidence building as actually having built confidence. Maybe that’s why the price of this book has dropped from $89 to $6. During this troubled period when we lack global confidence, maybe we should start building confidence in ourselves instead.
People are not confident that they will still have a job next week. Many hold little confidence in whether the politicians are really trying to solve the problems, or just lining their pockets and filling their friends’ wallets with cash. The one person that you really need to have confidence in is yourself. Building your self confidence will get you through difficult times.
This post is just intended to be an inspirational boost for your confidence building but I’ll talk a bit more on the Global Confidence Building book I found. The book’s description begins with “After every major war, perverse problems and heady opportunities present themselves in strange and variable mixtures.” Really? But what shows over the longer term is that the truly ‘perverse’ part was the war itself and the ‘perverse’ and competent politicians that showed their utter lack of diplomatic skills by engaging a nation in the war. A war doesn’t ever build confidence, it destroys confidence and it only builds animosity. Peace is confidence building.
